Mil, Circular

A unit of area; employed in designating the cross-sectional area of
wires and other circular conductors.

It is equal to
.78540  square mil;
.000507 square millimeter;
7.8E-7 (.00000078) square inch.

If the diameter of a wire is given in mils, the square of its diameter
gives its cross-sectional area in circular mils.
